1st Fatfield Scouts offers everyday adventure and activity to almost 180 young people across the South of Washington, Tyne and Wear. The group is an active group and has successfully grown it's membership over the last 3 years
1st Fatfield Scouts has a clear purpose in line with that of the UK Scout Association:
To help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as Members of their local, national and international communities.
Our method for giving young people the opportunity to learn by doing is called the Programme. The Programme is a continuous progression of training, activities and awards that covers everything that young people do in Scouting from the age of 6 to 25.
Scouting is open to all young people aged 6 to 25 of every faith and background. There are also plenty of opportunities for adults to become involved as Leaders, Assistants or Administrators.
The group is a registered charity and has an active and enthusiast Executive Comittee who as trustees manage the maintainance of the group's assets, raise funds and administer the groups's finances with support from the leader team.
Throughout the year, the Group fundraises to support maintenance and replacement of equipment and to subsidise our active programme. We are always looking for new opportunities to fundraise.
1st Fatfield is a volunteer organisation and all leaders, executive members and supporters are volunteers within the group. We rely heavily on support from parents of members of the group to help in various ways, from transporting scouts to an activity or to becoming a trustee of the charity.
Community is a theme particularly important within the group and we gain a lot of support from around the Washington Area, in turn we try to show our support at local events in Washington.
